But the Bible tells us not to be to occupied in our minds about what is going on in this world but have our mindset to what we have in Jesus. We should be Jesus-minded!
If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.
(Col 3:1-2 ASV)
When we have problems with our emotional health and we struggle with depression, we many times can find the problem here; in our lack of keeping our mind on Jesus and the promises God as given us in the Bible.
It is so easy that we end up as Sunday Christians. What do I mean by that? I guess you know; we go to church on Sunday and we get the week’s portion of the word of God and prayer.
Then during the week we get so caught up in the worries and the problems we have around us and we forget about Jesus. We forget that we have someone whom we can trust and that has promised to help us.
This might be a problem for you that fight depression right now. The depressive thoughts can be strong and demanding, and for us to keep our mind on Jesus require us to make a quality decision that we are going to put our trust in God and believe his word. It doesn’t happen automatically, we need to act on Gods word on purpose.
The result of keeping our mind on Jesus is tremendous! It helps us see possibilities and it can keep us from being bound in negativity!
