Fear Can Cause Depression

In order to be free from depression it is necessary to find the root to the problem. It can be many things that cause us feeling bad.

One reason could be fear.  In fact, some psychologist said that all problems have its root in fear – the fear of death, actually. I do not know if that is the case, but what I know is that fear causes more problem than we might think.

It is understandable that we feel fearful when we have had experiences that made us feel that way. Maybe you have been threatened in some way, or been really scared for something etc. People that have had break in their house can be much filled with fear. There are thousands of reasons for fear. Even if you are a Christian depression can hit you after traumatic situations.

But according to the Bible there is only one main solution for it:

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 Jn 4:18 KJV)

Yes, that is true; the love of God is the solution of fear! You see, if you and I could really understand, and I mean understand with our heart as a revelation Gods great love for us, there would really not be any reason for us to be depressed because of fear! Gods love would instantly make us free from depression!  The problem we have is that it is hard for us to understand Gods love. We have a hard time trust it. Our mind is filled with thoughts of destruction and failure everything else, that that hinders our Gods love to come through.

How can we increase our experience of Gods love then? By staying in the word of God! Reading the word that tells us that God loves us, will never leave us and want to protect us. When that truth becomes stronger in your heart than all fearful thoughts we have, we are free from depression.

I certainly have experiences how the word of God instantly changed me. I suffered from severe depressive thinking many years ago, doubting that I was even saved, believing that God maybe loved others but not me. But one moment of revelation and I got free from those thoughts once and for all! That show how strong the word of God is!

Free from depression

Here is some great help for depressed:

Jesus Shows Grace Where People Condemn

Jesus Has Grace For You!

Jesus is setting people free from all kind of problems. Just because He loves us. He shows his grace by deliver from sickness, from

poverty and in the verses below He sets a woman free from death penalty and from a whole town’s hatred! That is why we also know that He wants us to be free from depression and all those things that torture our mind. Emotional health is also on the list of freedom!

In the gospel of John we read how one day the Pharisees and the scribes came with a woman caught in an act of adultery. According to the Jewish law she should be stoned to death. There was no grace or love offered to her. The religious leaders and the people were there ready to act. But they wanted to hear Jesus opinion about it. Not because they believed in Him, but because they wanted to trick Him and find something they could use against him. Their only goal was to in some way or another remove Jesus from the public.

Jesus does not point his finger

It is so interesting the approach Jesus is taken here. Instead of joining the mobbing against this woman, the Bible tells us how He in a wonderful way just calmed the situation down by writing with His finger in the sand. He did not point His finger at this woman instead he gave them all an opportunity to judge their own life. (Apply that to your situation fighting to be free from depression: Jesus is not pointing His condemning finger at you!) He said: He who is without sin can cast the first stone. This is an amazing statement. Every one of them felt convicted of sin themselves; they laid the stones down and walked away.

What an amazing bible story! No one wanted to judge any longer. Why? Because they got convicted themselves. And that is how it works. The one who judge someone else and condemn that person, is someone who has not been looking in the mirror, not seen his or hers own miserable sins in the light of God! All that condemn others has forgotten who they were Jesus removed their sins.

Love gives us power to be free from depression

It is interesting to see the approach Jesus has to sin. Even if he did not cast any stone at this woman, he did not approve of her sins! The first thing he told her was: Go sin no more! But the thing is that if you have met that kind of love and grace, you have no problem turning away from your sin. You have met the one who in himself empowers you to make the change!

In this case; I believe that was what set this woman free. The whole city was against her, but Jesus showed her his love and grace. That love did not take light of the sin she made, but gave her the power to leave the sin!

That is the very nature of the love of God! It empowers you to make a change in your life. Did you know that the love that Jesus has for you also empowers you to make changes in the way you think about yourself, and also change that what you maybe for a long time has believed was impossible to change. Nothing is impossible for Jesus! You can be free from depression.

Being abandoned can cause depression

Being abandoned

One thing that can cause a lot of pain and be reason for depression in some ones life is being abandoned and left aside. When some one you love walk out on you and leave you for any reason, many times a big feeling of loneliness and helplessness enter your life. Other reactions can be anger and bitterness.

I one time met a woman that wanted to be free from depression, that was brought up in different orphanages. She was left alone – both her father and mother died. This woman had what I first called a non logical reaction. Her father that took care of her after the mother died; was the only one that the child trusted. When the father got killed in an accident she got angry on him. She asked herself: how could my father leave me – now I have no one that loves me any more. Of course the father could not help the accident, but the little girl felt abandoned and reacted with anger as if the father did it on purpose. That tells us that our feelings are not always logical –they are just feelings. Negative feelings can come out of any hard situation.

Others who have experienced the same problems, find it hard trusting people again, and think that it is difficult to connect to the opposite sex for example. They have problem receiving love and care. Often those people if they do not get help, carries a big shadow of loneliness through their entire life.

Many problems can come out of such experiences whether we have them in our childhood or as adults. People are searching for help to be free from depression and anxiety and we can sometimes track the problems back to being abandoned by loved ones.

Does the Bible know anything about this? Oh, yes. The word depression or being free from depression does not exist in the bible though, but the fact being abandoned is described very well. Jesus himself has experienced being abandoned by everyone in His hardest time here on earth. He was about to give His life for mankind, for every one – you and me – and the anxiety and mental stress He went through was of the worst kind of all. It is described in the gospels how Jesus was sweating blood – that’s the kind of anxiety He went through.

Jesus was left abandoned by people – the same people that sang Hosanna one day, shouted: Crucify Him, some day after. His disciples fell asleep when He went through the agony in Gethsemane. One of the disciples, Judas, betrayed him, so yes – Jesus knows about being left alone. And worst of all – for a moment even His Father in heaven left Him. On the cross Jesus cried out: Father – why have you forsaken me? God had to leave Him, in order for Jesus to rescue us. To what? To an eternal fellowship with Jesus – an eternity with God.

Jesus was alone – but we are never alone. Even if we might feel so sometimes. I certainly have. But we have to receive into our life the absolute truth that Jesus is at our side and He will never ever leave us. He went through the pain of loneliness to win fellowship with God to you! That is an awesome gift!

Being free from depression caused by feelings of loneliness, can be done through the word of God that tells you: you are never alone!

Fighting Rejection – Jesus Is The Answer

God does not throw you out

Due to bad relationships many people today are fighting feelings of rejection. When you are helping people to be free from depression you will find this as a common cause. Constantly carry feelings of being different; not fitting into the group, having a bad

self image and so on is paining people of all ages. Maybe the worst of all is to meet an elderly man or woman who has been under this burden their whole life and never experienced emotional health. They sometimes feel that those experiences have stolen their entire life.

Many people we meet have been through heartbreaking experiences that creates those feelings. A mother or father who never noticed them, showed any love or encouraged them are one example. Being bullied at school and never accepted amongst school friends could be another. Of course there can be hundreds of different causes to feel rejected.

What happens to people with such experiences is maybe first of all a feeling of being left out. Nobody wants me. I am different. I am ugly. I am stupid etc. Next thing could be a lack of trust in other people. Who can I trust? Maybe you also will reject me one day if I do something you do not like? And for the same reason, those people have a hard time receiving love, and might end up with very complicated close relationships because of it.

We can have many opinions about how to come out of this. For me the most wonderful way to be free from depression and feelings of rejection is the biblical way. You see, I found that the love of God can completely change everything.

God is not like men. He never fails. His word is always truth and that what He says to you and me, He will never take back. So when Jesus said:

Everything the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never turn away.
(Joh 6:37 ISV)

Jesus will never turn away anyone of us. If that truth will be more that just something I know is in the Bible, but a revelation in my heart, my life can start to change. All I need is someone who really loves me. Someone that I fully can trust, that I know will never reject me. From there I can begin a new confident life and finally be free from depression!

Always A Way To Be Free From Depression

Jesus always has a way out

There are many reasons for people experience depression and anxiety. Sometimes it is the persons own mistakes that is paining, other times the cause is to find in what other people has done, or very often it is a combination of the two.

Something wonderful with Jesus is that when we come to Him with our problems, the nature of the problem is not the main thing for Him. It often is for us, because one reason we suffer from a dark mind, is that we focus all the time on the negative experience we had. For Jesus we as persons are the most important! Many people have a mindset that tells them that all God sees in me is my bad habits, my mistakes, my failure and so on. While in fact the only thing that Jesus is focusing on is us! His love for us and his way out for us!

Jesus met all the time people who were in difficult situations. He always offered them a way out. Not everyone grabbed the opportunity, but he always showed them a way out. That is why we also know that when we are coming with our problems, Jesus always – did you hear that – always has a solution. He has a way for you to be free from depression. The solution differs of course because the reason we fight discouragement and negativity are not the same. But one thing is the same: Jesus knows how to come out of it and He loves us and wants us to be free from depression and anxiety!
